Frequently asked questions

How is the Goethe-Zertifikat B2 structured, and what do I need to pass?

The Goethe-Zertifikat B2 has four separate modules: reading, listening, writing and speaking. Each module is marked out of 100 points, and you pass a module with at least 60 points. In the course, you practise all four modules in short units and can train with mock exams in the Goethe format.

Can I retake just one module of Goethe B2?

Yes. You can retake each module any number of times, and passed modules from different exam dates can be combined. In the course, you can practise one part at a time or do the whole mock exam.

How is Goethe B2 Schreiben marked?

Goethe B2 writing is marked by two raters independently. They assess four things: task completion, coherence, vocabulary and structures, and your final result is the average of the two ratings. If task completion gets 0 points, the whole task gets 0 points.

Who needs B2 German in Germany?

B2 German is needed in some regulated healthcare jobs. Qualified nurses from abroad need at least B2 for professional recognition, and physiotherapists from non-EU countries also need B2 for recognition. This course helps you practise B2 skills across reading, listening, writing and speaking.

What do I practise in the B2 course?

You practise reading, listening, writing and speaking in short units. You also train with mock exams in the Goethe format, timed like exam day and scored by the exam's own rules, either one part at a time or as a full exam. The story chapters with Mara and her friends in Munich cover topics like work and careers, education, environment, media, health and the authorities.
